As-salaamu Alaikum Wa'rahmatullahi Wa'barakatuh
Alhamdulillah Muharram has begun and it is highly recommended to fast during this month, if not throughout we should at least aim to fast the Day of Ashura.
The Official Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia announced ago that the 1st of Muharram 1432 was on Tuesday 7th of December 2010, and that the 10th of Muharram (Ashura) 1432 will fall on Thursday 16 December 2010.
Let's set our alarms to wake for suhoor, let's revive this sunnah and fast as much as possible this month Insha'Allaah. Find a fasting-buddy and wake each other up to enjoin this sunnah during this month! And don't forget to fast the blessed day of Ashura.
On the Authority of Abu Qataada (radiallaahu 'anhu): That the Messenger of Allaah (salAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) was asked about the fast of the day of 'Ashoorah, so he answered: It expiates the sins of the previous year. Narrated by Muslim and other than him, and by Ibn Majah and his wording is: The fast of the day of 'Ashoorah; Indeed the reward that I request from Allaah is that He expiates the sins of the year before this year.
