IslamBradford visits St. Philips Primary School

IslamBradford was recently invited to St. Philips Primary School in Girlington to give a short presentation on the role of an imam to Year 6.

The presentation was delivered by IslamBradford Project Manager, Brother Shafiq Siddiq and discussed the various day to day duties carried out by Imams in the Muslim community. This included discussion on leading the congregational prayers, performing marriage contracts, delivering the Jumuah khutbah (Friday sermon), teaching Quran etc.

The pupils in Year 6 (ages 10-11 years) were well behaved and showed great respect and enthusiasm for the presentation. Sweets were distributed to students participating in the presentation as a token of good will.

IslamBradford is committed to helping the local community by using faith as a medium for understanding. In the future IslamBradford plans to expand its work in delivering presentations to schools and organistaions.

One student was so enthused that she emailed IslamBradford with her feedback:

“My name is Fazila and I am a student at St Philips Primary School. As you may know that a man from IslamBradford came to our school to tell us about the role of the Imam and a few other important facts about Islam. I am writing to you on behalf of the teachers and students, including ME!! The speech that one of your very kind and noble hearted members made was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the way he made us laugh at some points and think at some points. I am very grateful to all of you and so is everyone at St Philips. Well done with your work and may Allah reward you for all your good and fantastic work”. Ameen. W.Assalam Fazila

Assalamu alaikum, Mashallah Fazila's email sounds very enthusiastic and is clear that the brother involved did a good job. Perhaps the brother can forward his services to other schools and strengthen links between IB and the community. The benefit would be many-fold, such as the school getting a true picture of Islam as well being an excellent opportunity for dawah. May Allah reward everyone involved, ameen.
